This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with students with special needs in the Bronx. I would like to provide my students with sensory-motor chewy tools (made of food grade silicone to allow for re-use to reduce waste!) The oral motor and sensory tools will enable our students ability to self regulate and partake in classroom activities. The students vary in age from kindergarten to fifth grade. They have developmental delays, Autism, speech delays, and other delays which impact their learning style and ability. Our students' diagnoses include Autism, developmental delays, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Batten disease, Angelman syndrome, and students with speech impairments and other disabilities. Thank you so much in advance for your help in providing these supplies for our students! I will also share the supplies with colleagues of mine who also work with students with special needs in this school. We collaborate to develop treatment plans, and will all benefit from this donation! It would mean so much to our students and we truly appreciate it!
