This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Down...Set...Hut! There is nothing like Friday night lights on the high school field. Students, teachers, parents, and the community all together supporting our youth. Poverty, Violent crime, drugs, and economic struggle plague our community. The multitude of obstacles on a daily basis that our students face is unfathomed.More than 85% of my students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
But these obstacles do not stunt the GRIT, personality, and eagerness to WIN!!
High school sports allows these kids the opportunity to stay off the streets and focus on their future. Many of our student ahtletes commit to universities with full ride scholarships for their talents on and off the field. they become scholar athletes instead of statistics.
We strive as teachers and coaches to guide these young athletes and give them all the opportunitires they deserve to better their lives and become amazing adults. After school sports givres students the opportunity for growth, build confidence, demonstrate leadershp qualities, improve academic performance, and overall learn how to overcome and face challenges.
My Project
Keeping hydrated on the field is of upmost importance. Water coolers for our football team are essential for practice and game nights to keep our players from dehydration and for optimal performance on the field. Water coolers are filled everyday for practice and games by our football managers and used by all of our players. These coolers travel with the team at all away and home games. One of our challenges being here is South Florida is the etreme temperatures, and using these coolers to keep our athletes hydrated follows all safety protocols for conditioning, traning, and playing.
