My Students

My 5th and 6th-grade students are in my class because they have been labeled with a disability or learning challenge. I choose to be their teacher because too many times these students get dealt a bad hand through no fault of their own. I want to be a wild card in their life, and give them an opportunity that will inspire them to push through their challenges.

Often, the special education population gets the leftovers in schools, and I want to give them the opportunity to experience the best my school has to offer.

One of the ways I want to do this is by creating a classroom of individuality. I have created a classroom economy that will give the students the ability to practice life skills such as paying rent, using a debit card, and writing a check. Each week they will rent their seat in the classroom. Here is where you come in. I want them to have the wildest and most exciting seating available! Each unique and different so that will give them the opportunity to express themselves, and have a sense of belonging.

My Project

With remote learning becoming a reality, sometimes the only way to reach students is through a video call or sometimes just a video. I want to be able to provide my students with professional quality lessons and videos. If you have been keeping track of my project in the past, I have quite the studio for my students. I like to record song parodies, Goofy and fun videos about academic content, and I even have done some virtual announcements for my school to help create a sense of normalcy.

With the use of this microphone, I will be able to increase the quality of my content and in the event that the students are let back into the classroom, they can begin working on their own projects using the microphone.

I do a project-based, semester-long, project called genius hour where students get to work on their own project based on their interests and hobbies. A microphone would allow my students who are interested in music production and acting to get some real-life experience in the classroom.
