Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a teacher at Title I, a fine arts magnet school. My students are from different economic backgrounds. The majority of them are economically disadvantaged. Their home settings range from two-parent to single-parent homes. A majority of my students are of Spanish culture (or descent) or African-American.
My students are innovative, hard-working, and most importantly, dreamers.
We focus on student-led education. My students display their eagerness to learn, and most importantly, the character traits that come with persistence and resilience.
My Project
These National Geographic magazines will be a useful tool in helping my students research facts and identify key details using nonfiction text features. Students will also be learning how to describe the way authors use certain text features in orders to ensure that their reader understands the text. This will also be a useful tool with projects. Our classroom is also in need of extra storage. The shelves will help the flow of classroom rotations and the ease of accessibility for students and their recourses. These tools will help me organize the resources I need to utilize in the classroom. These tools will solely be used for the classroom and not at home.
More than half of students from low‑income households
