I teach English Language Arts to 64 5th-grade students at a high-performing charter school in southeast Chicago. About 89% of our scholars qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch.
My students are voracious learners who love challenging academics.
They are full of enthusiasm, curiosity, motivation, and potential. Our school empowers these students to excel academically and instills the necessary strength of character so they can succeed in high school, college, and a career of their choice.
My Project
After over a year of remote and hybrid instruction, all of my students will finally be returning to the building for the 2021-2022 school year. As such, there is a variety of supplies that I need to make in-person learning as successful as possible. Much of these materials are essential school supplies, including white boards, erasers, chart paper, composition notebooks, and a Chromebook. This will ensure that teachers will be able to fully actualize their curriculums. Additionally, I have included incentives and decorations to bring both consistency and joy into the classroom. This will allow for positive reinforcements in the classroom, and create a supportive, joyful, and consistent environment for my students.
