I have honors Sophomores and Junior students, but that doesn't mean their noses are any less runny than a third graders. My own personal supply of six tissues boxes and two sanitizer bottles have already been depleted in less than three months. I have also had numerous absences due to illness. The goal for the cleaning supplies (Clorox wipes, Purell, Kleenex) is to help ensure my room, desks, and supplies remains sanitary despite all of the runny noses. By doing my part to keep the room clean, I hope to help keep my students in class and not at home with a fever.
I also love doing projects with my students.
When finished, I love displaying their hard work on the walls. The tape is for posting their assignments on the walls without damaging them with holes. I currently have my entire back wall full of artistic, quote-filled one-pagers that encapsulate their independent reading books. I also have a board of student book recommendations that other students can put sticky note responses to after they too have read it. I also use sticky notes for students to vote for most affective/persuasive posters when we do campaign projects (ex: Lord of the Flies - vote for " " for chief). The sticky notes and tape allow my students and my other classes to see the work of their peers and have a chance to interact with each other.
