it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project aims to provide Arabic-speaking ESL students with access to beloved English-language books by offering them in Arabic. By providing books like Harry Potter in Arabic, we can bridge the language gap, allowing students to engage with rich, imaginative texts that would otherwise be difficult to understand. These translations will serve as tools for improving their English reading and comprehension skills while supporting literacy development in both languages.
The primary goal of this project is to increase student engagement and literacy by offering culturally relevant, captivating books in a language they are familiar with.
With these resources, students can focus on vocabulary, grammar, and storytelling techniques in English without being hindered by language barriers. We aim to foster a love for reading, encourage critical thinking, and enhance language retention, ultimately setting them up for academic success.
What makes our students special is their resilience and determination. Many come from diverse backgrounds with different learning needs, and their motivation to improve their English is truly inspiring. For some, learning English opens doors to brighter futures, both academically and professionally. By providing these accessible resources, we’re not just teaching them English—we’re giving them the keys to explore new worlds, cultures, and ideas, all while feeling empowered in their own language. This project will not only help improve their English skills but also build their confidence, giving them the tools to succeed in an increasingly globalized world.
