This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of our students do not have access to food. We find that by providing snacks helps them to concentrate better. The computer and kindle tools will enable them access to newer and exciting technology to enhance their research skills. The goals of the project are to improve their reading and writing skills.

Our students are special because they are faced with many things such as trauma, food and shelter uncertainties, adults in their life are in gangs, they are faced with dealing with family members in prison, many of them are parents themselves.

They have enrolled in our high school to find a safe place to with supportive adults and a low stress environment to help the find and achieve their educational goals. The teachers here really want to build confidence, self advocacy and life skills and better choice making skills in all our students.
