My students need these screens to make our Little Big Planet design club able to move around the building and increase impact on students in lower grades.

My Students
We say, "Learn through play." Students are encouraged to do just that, until about third grade. Then there is a massive shift to testing and note taking. In my classroom, we are using this learn through play concept by harnessing the PlayStation software, Little Big Planet to unlock creativity.
My students, like many in this day and age, are video game players.
They enjoy it a lot. They talk about what they play and enjoy. When I pose them with the question of how they would change something, or what they might like included in a game, they always have an answer. However, we do not have a lot of resources. Our district is a rural one, and poverty is high.
My goal is to provide them with as many opportunities to continue learning through play as I can and they respond wonderfully. They have enjoyed playing games as part of a lesson, and making projects in a virtual medium. They are always looking for opportunities to express themselves and share their work with others.
My Project
Over the last two years, I have had the privilege of starting a design club that uses Little Big Planet (a PlayStation franchise) to help students bring ideas to life. I have also, personally built activities that my students can use as part of class. However, our building has one television, and using the system on our Active Board projector has taken its toll.
These screens are built for situations like ours, where you need to be more mobile. They would allow students the option to put something together as a part of a project with minimal distractions. The screens would also give us a lot more freedom on where our group meets in the building and who we can allow to interact with the activities we are creating (picture a 5th grader asking a 4th grader at lunch for some feedback). I would also like to allow other teachers in the building to interact with the activities I have made for students. These screens make something like that much more reasonable.
Donating to our project would give my students a lot more opportunities to include something that they truly enjoy and put a very positive spin on that interaction.
My ultimate goal is to encourage students to not only learn through play, but also to see projects through to completion. These screens allow me to provide more opportunities like this to more students.
