Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a NYC Title I school. Most of them are English language learners and are eager to learn. They are so excited to be back in school and want to engage in all the things they missed especially reading and exploring books.
My Project
Most of my students are learning English and need to build their background knowledge as well as vocabulary to enhance their English language skills. I want them to be able to explore different books and learn about different topics. They do not have a lot of background knowledge and have not had a lot of opportunity to build it due to the pandemic. They are eager to learn and having real books in their hands will enhance their experience. By having a leveled library all students will have access to books on their reading level.
