This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Students: In this cost cutting, budget slashing economy my students could use a little help getting access to updated science-related reading materials!
My public school classroom is full of bright, enthusiastic, and motivated 8th grade students who come from economically challenged households.
Over 90 percent of my students qualify for free or reduced lunches and most come from single parent households.
My Project
A subscription to Scholastic Science World magazine will provide my students with current and relevant information in the areas of Biology, Earth and Space Science, Physics, etc, as well as provide them with multiple opportunities to experience the scientific method through Science World's inquiry-based, hands-on activities which are included in every issue!
Supplementing outdated science textbooks is an important step in helping to ensure my students become scientifically literate.
A subscription to Science World will not only foster an appreciation of the scientific method, but will also provide them with examples of how to do science, everyday!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
