Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are great. They love learning, and they enjoy coming to school. My students are mostly immigrants or children of immigrants. Many are English Language Learners (ELLs). Nearly all students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch, because their family's household incomes is below the poverty line.

My school is a large, crowded school, in a very large urban district.

This past year, we have had a lot of budget cuts. Fourteen staff members from our school were cut. Most of our budget has been used to keep the teachers and staff that we do have. Even though the school has limited resources, students have some of the highest test scores in the area.

My Project

My students need a roadmap for learning French in upper elementary and middle school. This curriculum will allow my students to learn French through gesture, cooperative learning, music, rap, creative writing, and drama. The materials in this kit have been proven by research to accelerate language development in a way that is fun and interesting to students.

The curriculum and accompanying materials will help French come alive for my students.

Gone are the days of boring worksheets and verb drills. Help my students love their French class. Through stories and music, this program will make French meaningful to my students.
