My Project
Interactive whiteboards (IWBs) are powerful tools in the classroom that can help students with special needs learn in exciting and engaging ways. For students with intellectual disabilities, these boards provide a visual and engaging way to access the curriculum. The bright colors, animations, and interactive features can capture their attention and make learning fun and exciting. This increased engagement can help them understand new ideas better and stay focused during lessons.
For students with vision and hearing disabilities, IWBs can be adjusted to meet their specific needs.
My staff and I can change the size of text and images to make them easier to see. They can also use audio features that allow students to hear instructions or explanations. This flexibility helps ensure that all students can participate fully in lessons and access the same information as their peers. As a result, every student has the opportunity to learn and succeed.
My elementary and high school students on the autism spectrum can also benefit from IWBs in many ways. The interactive nature of these boards can support their learning styles, allowing them to explore topics in a hands-on manner. For instance, students can touch the board to answer questions or manipulate objects on the screen, making learning feel more personal and less intimidating. A QR code can be used to assist the students in using their devices along with the teacher instructing them on the IWB. Additionally, teachers can use IWBs to create structured and predictable lessons, helping to reduce anxiety and improve focus.
Overall, interactive whiteboards significantly make learning accessible and enjoyable for all students, especially those with special needs.
My students are in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade with special needs. An IWB will help my staff and I better reach each student at their individual level.
