Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Ohhh, Ahhh are the happy expressions most of my 13 students can say when they have their turn to share the only iPad we have in our classroom.

My students range in ages from 6 to 9.

They attend a self-contained Special Education classroom grades 1st-4th and deal with moderate to severe disabilities, motor/verbal difficulties and developmental delays. They need to receive speech, physical, occupational therapy and Social Work as needed.

My Project

An iPad is an excellent educational and communication tool for children with special needs both in terms of learning and communicating with others. Students with disabilities can use a multitude of fun and engaging applications to address their specific needs. Interacting with an iPad creates a rainbow of fun for all kids. The accessibility and multi-sensory capability of the iPad is ideal for special needs learners since students with fine motor difficulties simply use their fingers to touch and drag necessary items. Applications for the iPad allow students to perform on many different levels according with their functional level. Its flexibility can accommodate a student with cognitive, physical disabilities and low or no language skills expression, while another learner can use the device to target his own specific learning need.

Please support my Special Education students to receive an iPad for them to expand their knowledge and skills in all levels.

Every one of them deserves the opportunity to access all the marvelous iPad apps designed to meet their special needs.
