My Students
Our students have the pleasure of coming to a public school with historic significance. My elementary school is housed in a two-story building that is close to 90 years old, and was added to the U.S. Department of the Interior's Register of Historic Places in 1983. Currently, it offers quality education to grades Kindergarten through 5th grade, and is a "B" level school that has garnished many academic accolades over the years.
My school is the perfect example of what public learning institutions can become when community and schools work together.
Its teachers are dedicated to giving the best of themselves, and strive to offer exceptional instruction that has led to some of the highest testing scores in math in the parish. Our students hail from a diverse community of citizens who are active participants in their children's learning experience. Many children are from low-income and impoverished communities and depend on the school breakfast program. Without this program, many children would not get the nourishment needed to help them thrive and strive during their school day.
My school is truly the exception to the rule.
My Project
The materials will be used to teach them how to read, write and speak the French language. The map will help students understand where French is spoken, pencils to help them complete assignments. The chart stand is greatly needed because it will be used to teach students how to understand and use French grammar as well as how to construct sentences. The color markers are for the kindergarten level students who will learn French through working with color worksheets which display French words and pictures. The appropriate tools will enable students to use effective cognitive skills necessary to become immersed in learning how to communicate in French. All material will be contained within the French class only, and will be used by French language students only.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
