We're an urban school. That means that we can estimate how many will enroll for school, but we always know that we'll have strong turnouts for both boys and girls wrestling. With us being an urban school our resources are extremely limited and money is always scarce. We do our absolute best with what we have and the kids NEVER complain about what they don't have. Even with all these limitations, this program has created a healthy escape for our kids here! An outlet our student-athletes can utilize daily to help incorporate small victories into their lives, build lasting relationships and get to be competitive in the process.
My Project
My kids face challenges daily that our wrestling program helps them escape and overcome. Not only has wrestling given these young men and women an outlet, but it has also given them a platform to be successful. Being successful, not only inside the classroom but outside the classroom, is a top priority for my student-athletes. I want the very best for them, and to feel as if they belong, and to be fearless when we go to compete with not only schools in our district, but against other schools not in the inner-city Houston as well.
With your assistance these donations of competition equipment and study resources it will drastically improve our circumstances and allow them to feel more confident so that they may compete at a high level each and every time.
In having a tablet our kids can complete work even while on the road at sporting events. The competition gear helps with us look as one, as if we belong just as every other school does.
