My Students
Our high school suffers from severe budget restraints which limit the amount of technology and books available to our 1,000 grades 9-12 students. The district is the third largest in New England. As an urban school district, 52.4 % of our students are economically disadvantaged, 100% of our students are eligible for free lunch and breakfast, 19% are students with disabilities. Our student population is one of the most ethnically diverse in the city with limited to no access to technology and the internet at home and zero budget for library books.
My Project
Our students will be returning to in person learning this Fall. We are all very excited. Since students lost access to our library for the past year, many students were unable to access new young adult literature. To welcome them back, I want to provide them with copies of the most recent, well reviewed, and exciting books! We have curated this collection to do just that. We have included great new series novels, realistic fiction, diverse storylines, graphic novels, and drawing books. We know they will love the books on the list!
