My students are special because many of them speak more than one language and for almost all of them, English is their second language. Working with an ESL population, in a community that is mostly Arab, I have the pleasure to be surrounded by diversity and rich culture.
About half of my students are reading and writing at grade level, but the other half fall far behind because of the language barrier and other economic difficulties.
My students have a passion for learning and come to me every day with excitement. Many of my students though, struggle in many ways. My class is not only diverse in their race, religion, and economic status, but also in their abilities to learn. My students range from students with speech and language impairments to emotionally impaired to cognitively impaired to students with ADD and ADHD to students who are learning the English language as a second language. I am so proud to support them through their struggles because everyday they show up and show me their GRIT. It is my job to prepare them for success, but I need a little help!
My Project
Educating kids digitally will be more fun and accessible with these resources. The resources will be used at home and are aligned to curriculum, state assessments, and grade level standards. These beautiful digital resources are made for our students to engage with, collaborate on, and show success with independently. It allows teachers to have more one on one time with kids and less time planning, prepping, and creating from scratch. I can download them and use them in my google classroom immediately. Teachers can too work smarter not harder now!
