Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

While we have returned to school 100% face to face, we are still cautious about what we can do safely with our students. Many materials that had been made available over the past few years with minimal to no fee are back to full price. Although many in the world are resuming business as usual, with class sizes ranging from 33 to 45 students in a classroom less than 800 square feet, we continue to exercise caution.

MusicPlayOnline allows my students the opportunity to explore instruments, write music, and play games that support learning safely with their devices while we are cautiously beginning to share instruments and other manipulatives!

For the students to learn effectively, they need to be able to use their knowledge. They need to be able to play a rhythm and recognize that it is different than the beat. They need to experience the differences in sound when using a triangle or maracas. The students need to be able to arrange pitches on the staff and hear the changes between higher and lower sounds. They need to use what we are learning and make it tangible.

Additionally, this resource will be available to the students to play with and learn from at home. They will be able to log onto their music learning at home in the same way that they have the opportunity to enrich their math or reading classes. The students will be able to enjoy the games, reinforcing learning while having fun. Learning while they think they are playing and having fun sounds like a great opportunity!
