Puppets can make online learning engaging and fun! I teach online to Special Ed. ESL students who are homebound because of their disabilities. My school is focusing on culturally relevant teaching. This means that we need materials which match our student population. When I use multicultural, colorful and fun puppets in my daily online class, it makes learning fun, brings happiness to students as well as demonstrating that they matter.
Doing multicultural puppetry provides a way for me to teach home bound students about weather, shapes, colors, and the word of the day while make learning enjoyable and it is especially effective on the computer screen!
I only have one puppet currently, but by having several puppets, it will keep the students guessing as to which one will appear next!
