Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What I love about my students is that I love that they love to learn. They enjoy learning about the future and how they can play apart with an education. I love that they come ready to learn new things, and to put in the work necessary to be successful in class. For example, my students will give up their lunch periods to either complete class assignments, finish reading a book of interest and or stay after school to get extra help.
What makes my students special is that they are a melting pot of our social structure; Arabic, Africans, Spaniards, African Americans, Caucasians, Mexicans.
Though many come from broken homes, ridden with dysfunction and violence, they come to school with hope that their education will provide a brighter future. They come ready to read each day in school. According to one student "it is the best place to crawl into my text." Finally, what makes my students special is that they see themselves as future presidents, teachers, politicians lawyers, police officers, and entrepreneurs. They are full of life and energy!
My Project
These materials will provide my students with access to more online books of interest using our I-Ready program.
I have several books in my classroom and online library on rotation.
However, without the headphones, my students are finding it difficult to concentrate on their activities.
I also have several ELL students this year at various levels. Two ELL's are Emerging ELL's, and approximately six are Transitioning English Learners. I am having difficulty finding books at their level in my school. Using the headphones will allow them to listen to book on our classroom kindles.
These headphones will make a difference because I will be able to keep my students more engaged while on their Chrome Books.
