My Students

My students come from all over our city to attend this school. We are a Title One school of about 500 children, and I currently have an after school group of 20 third, fourth, and fifth graders who are exploring the world of LEGO computer coding. The children love to solve problems on their own and participate in hands-on activities.

Right now hands-on time with a LEGO robot is limited because of the availability of resources in our building.

We need to keep up and be prepared for the future and for this we need more technology.

My Project

Having the LEGO Mindstorms Education EV3 Core Sets will allow more students at my school to have an opportunity to work closely with coding and computer science. I have 20 students working with two older LEGO robots and have seen their curiosity, persistence, and success grow. Students I never would have thought would have an interest in coding are blooming and are excited about computer science. Having more robots will give more children the opportunity to grow and succeed.

My students come from all walks of life and it inspires me to see them get excited when learning and executing code.

I want to continue to foster this curiosity. These Educational Sets come with a curriculum pack and includes 48 tutorials that will help me and my students continue to learn the basics of the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3.

Continued success with coding will help me to guide my students from learning to think critically to creating new programs. My hope is to create a culture of learning that prepares students academically and personally for their future. These successes will encourage my students to continue coding and keep them interested in computer science.
