This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students are part of a wonderful Spanish Immersion program. Our school offers 90% Spanish and 10% English starting in kindergarten. They are life-long learners in a bilingual community. My students are full of excitement, confidence, and are hard workers. They are curious learners, ready to collaborate and problem solve. Each of my students is unique and have different learning styles. I want my students to succeed in the classroom and build the foundation they need to be successful in the school years to come.
My Project
My students enjoy working in small groups. My goal is to help my students actively learn through small groups in both Mathematics and Language Arts. When planning for small group activities, I keep my students' interests in mind, while also following our common core standards. For many of my students, technology is something that amazes and engages.
By donating to our project, our class will finally have a complete set of tablets to use in a small group!
I plan to use the tablets during Language Arts and Math groups, using educational games I have researched that reinforce Spanish academic vocabulary. The tablets also give an opportunity for my students to collaborate with others. Let's not forget that the protective cases will also help extend the lifetime of the tablets for future classes to use!
