This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Technology is infused into most aspects of learning, nowadays. Sometimes, though, good ol' paper and pencil still work just fine. Meshing the past with the future is something I strive to include in my daily teaching.

I teach first grade in a large, urban school district.

My school is a Title 1 school. My students come from a variety of ethnic and low socio-economic backgrounds. We have a high ELL population. Last year, unfortunately, our school was labeled as a "failing school" due to low state test scores. Despite the challenges our students face, our students, parents, and staff work together to give them the best possible education they deserve. Space is a luxury in my classroom. Most of my students' desks are arranged into cooperative groups. Some of my students, however, need and work better by themselves. Some just need more space that allows them to move a little more, but won't disturb someone else's learning. Because my students' needs are so varied, I have had to be more creative with my classroom setup. I am constantly having to move students around, trying to find that "perfect" fit.

My Project

For this project I am requesting privacy partitions, file mesh holders, and one mobile media cart. I will use magazine file boxes and a mobile cart to organize reading materials, and privacy partitions to help accommodate my students' different learning styles so they can work independently and self-contained.

When students learn in an environment that is conducive to their own learning style, it will allow them the opportunity to produce their best.

Donations to this project will help me to differentiate instruction that will meet the needs of all my students.
