My Students

My students need a place to enjoy reading! I am the media specialist at a school that is over 20 years old. The furniture in our library is also that old. Our students deserve a comfortable, inviting place to read.

Our school has over 850 students and we consider ourselves one big happy family.

All of our staff members are committed to teaching and encouraging our students each day! We all want the best for them and go over and beyond to make this happen. We consider the students, staff and parents part of each child's educational team. Our school opened over 20 years ago. Despite minimum upgrades due to budget constraints we strive to enhance each child's education.

My Project

Each day about 200 of our students come into our school library to check out new library books and participate in media lessons. After they check out their library books, the first thing they want to do is sit down and read! These furniture pieces would allow the students a much needed new and improved reading area. They will be able to sit comfortably and get lost in reading a book! They will learn to love reading and realize all the places a book can take you. I believe finding the right book at the right place to read it can help you find a passion for reading! Josh Jameson once said, "There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book." Having an enjoyable place to read will allow our students to turn the page!

Please consider giving our students materials so that we can create a new and exciting place to read!

The greatest joy is to see a child reading and loving it! We must do everything we can to make reading enjoyable. Once we help a child develop a love for reading we teach them that there is a whole new world to explore! "A book is a device to ignite the imagination" Alan Bennett. Funding this project will help our students get a reading area in our library where we can let the imagining begin!
