This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you know how hard it is to be the kid that's always in trouble? It can destroy your self-esteem. My students need materials to use during small group sessions to build their self-esteem, improve social skills and increase academic success.
My students attend an inner city public school in Texas.
Many of our students come from low SES families yet achieve high academic success with the support of the school and community. The students are challenged to not only achieve academically but to be good citizens in school and community.
My Project
Using the conversation cubes will encourage students to participate in group sessions by providing a fun way to share thoughts with group members. The character education kit and the social skills games will allow me to plan interesting activities for each group session to keep the students engaged.
If this project is funded, it will be used to help students for many years to come.
As the school counselor, I serve every student in the school, so it could potentially impact thousands of students as it will be used each school year.
