One Device, Endless Possibilities: Empowering 9th Grade Readers and Writers

Help me give my students a single iMac and iPad that will transform our 9th grade English classroom—enabling multimedia lessons, creative student projects, and equitable access to technology for reading, writing, and digital literacy.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our school, every resource counts—and even a single iMac and iPad can make a world of difference. In our 9th grade English classroom, these tools would serve as powerful catalysts for learning, creativity, and equity.

The iMac would become our classroom’s central hub for teaching and collaboration.

With it, I can create engaging multimedia lessons, model writing and research skills, and project educational content that brings literature and language to life. It also provides students with access to technology they may not have at home, allowing them to work on essays, explore digital storytelling, and conduct research for projects that deepen their critical thinking.

The iPad offers flexibility and individualized support. It can rotate among students who need extra reading help through text-to-speech and interactive comprehension apps, or it can be used as a creation tool for students to draft poems, record podcasts, and produce visual book reports. It allows for hands-on, student-centered learning—something our current resources can’t fully support.

In a classroom where many students have never used a computer outside of school, this iMac and iPad would not just enhance lessons—they would open doors. With your support, we can give our students access to the tools they need to express themselves, build confidence, and thrive in a digital world.
