Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a great group of students in a large urban high poverty district. As you can imagine, the district budget is extremely tight, and we are often unable to get needed supplies.
All of my children are ready to learn, and they deserve better than what can be provided.
My 61 children are special to me as they have reinvigorated me in my teaching career. They love coming to my class, and I get excited seeing them each and every day.
My Project
My project request will benefit the students in several ways. We need a Chromebook with case and protection plan. I will be able to use this Chromebook in a small group or one-on-one instruction. This will allow me to differentiate instruction. This is extremely important so that all of my children can succeed in each educational endeavor that they attempt.
STEAM is a topic focus in our school.
We can focus on projects that will combine aspects of science, technology, engineering, art, and math. My students will love to create and design new and exciting classroom projects as the Internet fills their minds with wonderful ideas.
Some of my students are English language learners from countries such as Bangladesh and Mexico. My multicultural students and I will be able to communicate and discuss using a translation website such as freetranslation.com.
In addition to helping the children, I will now be able to complete lesson plans on the go (i.e., in the teacher's room) due to the portability. So much of our professional development is online so this will definitely be an asset in making me a better teacher.
