Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. If you choose us, we will send you a picture of our happy faces since you helped us to learn many new words. Our school is located in the inner-city, surrounded by 4 government housing projects and 96% of the students qualify for free and reduced lunches.
Our kids come to us with a language deficit of one to two years. It is our desire to change that. It can only happen by increasing the amount of language that they hear. They need to hear lots and lots of books!
These storytelling kits will allow my students to hear and then re-tell a variety of stories during their independent work time. It will help them to enrich their vocabulary and give them opportunities to communicate by re-telling the story.
