My Students
This is my second year teaching Pre-K in a NYC public school. I have 13 students that I just met today! I have 6 boys and 7 girls. Each of them arrived eager to learn and so excited to begin their school career. Pre-K is the beginning and I believe it is never too early to teach children how to be explorers, discoverers and creators. It is through play that children learn best. When a student is engaged they learn and grow. I would really appreciate your support in getting these items and helping to make my students’ first school year, one to remember. I want to continue to instill a love of learning, imaginative play and risk-taking that will last each of them a lifetime!
My Project
The materials I am requesting for my class will benefit them in so many ways. The story telling gloves will be used with the felt set story telling pieces. This will be introduced in small groups and hen will be incorporated into the centers for the children to use. It will help with sequencing, expressive language and cooperative skills. In addition, the felt puppets will be used to work on similar skills. Learning through play is how young children learn best. By introducing these early literacy skills now, my goal is to create a solid foundation for their future years as a learner. I am also requesting pocket charts because what I am using now is not really working out. These pocket charts are durable and will last a long time. Having a neat and organized room is important and helps students learn. These pocket charts will continue to instill a sense of independence in each of my students because they will be able to easily chose their centers and move their sticks. Please consider supporting this project that I believe will help to create lifelong independent learners.
