My Students
As a teacher of a Title 1 school my children face many challenges every day. With every obstacle they are faced with, they face it with a smile and a positive attitude. They are so eager to learn and they try so hard. I want to keep that spark alive and I believe this project is just the beginning.
I see myself in my students.
My students have shared with me that they sometimes have to lie on the floor when they hear gunshots. I know this may be hard to read, but it is the hard truth when you teach at a school where the majority of your students live in poverty. 100% of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. This may be the only times they are able to eat. Every student in my class deserves the opportunity to learn and learn in a positive and safe classroom.
My Project
My students will use the earbuds for during our listen to reading centers. I believe the ear buds will keep my students more focused on their tasks and help them build their reading skills. My hope is that the new books for our library will engage my students and make them fall in love with reading. The bungee seats will give my students a comfy place to read.

Our classroom headphones are out of date and half of them don't even work. Our classroom library is very small and my students need new books to fall in love with. Flexible seating will give students a sense of ownership in the classroom. The classroom is theirs!
