Help me give my students books, hands-on, inclusive rhyming resources to promote essential literacy skills in a multitude of classrooms.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Mara's classroom raised $361

My Students
Our kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students are loving, inquisitive, and charismatic! Each student is uniquely passionate about different topics, including: construction, insects, puzzles, play dough, cars, puppets, dinosaurs, playing "freeze" in the hallway, and Raya. The kids sing the "better alphabet song" to the Nurse, bombard the Custodians with questions and greetings, and dance for the School Cook.
As I've grown to absolutely adore these students, I've been inspired by their enthusiasm for hands on learning and their eagerness to ask questions.
Buffalo is one of the most racially segregated cities in the United States. Over 75% of our students qualify for free meals. The majority of our students identify as African American, Latinx, and Asian. In addition, our students live in and attend a school in one of the lowest income neighborhoods in the city. Our students have the potential to change the world!
My Project
I selected these rhyme-focused resources to support students in 8 different classes, Kindergarten through 2nd grade. These books and hands-on learning materials will engage students in rhyming, making it easier for them to hear and utilize sound patterns in language! According to ReadingPartners.org, "When children learn to rhyme, it helps them develop the ability to break words down into smaller parts like puzzle pieces and string them together."
I believe that reading is a fundamental right for all students!
Rhyming is a foundational step in learning to read and write. Below, I've included diverse rhyming books, flashcards, puzzles, bingo, and dominos that students will use daily during literacy centers. Any donation is immensely appreciated and will be utilized immediately with students. Thank you!
