Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students who are deaf and have additional disabilities come from all over Northern California and stay at the school dormitory five nights a week while attending classes. They come from families that often do not know American Sign Language (ASL) who are unable to provide full communication access. At the school, all teachers, staff, and students use ASL so that students gain full information in accessible environment. They learn best by experiencing. The class trip to DC will enrich their views.

My Project

By traveling across the country, and exploring the capital city of Washington, DC, they will learn, experience, and thrive. Their understanding of our nation will be expanded. Their knowledge will be expanded and their memories will be cherished forever. Students will have opportunity to visit memorial, historical, and governmental sites. They will also visit Gallaudet University and Model Secondary School for the Deaf where they will meet other Deaf students.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in the tour with full access in American Sign Language, and to be able to access information without language barriers.
