Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At the Our school in San Diego, we serve 100% low-income and first-generation college-bound students. We launched our Ethnic Studies course four years ago and are always looking for new resources for our students to use. We will be using the "Once I Was You" Book to have students explore a new perspective on immigration in the United States. Students will use the books to do various writing assignments and research.
This book will be added to our Ethnic Studies curriculum for students to learn about a Latinx immigrant perspective in the United States.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
