This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classroom come from low-income families that speak mainly Spanish. The families depend on the services of the center while they are at work. Most of my students spend over eight hours at the center and are eager to learn. The students are scoring low in the area of Literacy and have a year to improve their scores. The children are already struggling because they are second language learners but with the proper tools, they will excel.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students learning, by giving them a variety of materials to use as they glue together on a piece of paper or canvas. They will be able to see the choices and decide for themselves what works best for their project, and what's meaningful to them. All of the collage material ordered will improve their ability to make choices, use critical thinking and enhance their creativity. The materials will also develop new vocabulary, and to accept complements gracefully, but overall develop new skills while they are away from home.
