My Students

I love that my students find enjoyment during our shared reading times. I am very intentional about exposing my students to a variety of genres so that they can learn that books should be mirrors and windows. They love the idea of being passengers traveling around the world, through books, while sitting in our classroom. I want to help maintain their love of story time by preparing them to become confident readers and captains of their own travels through books.

My Project

I work with students in grades kindergarten through third. The materials will make a difference in my students’ learning because they will provide support at every stage while my students are “On the Road to Reading”. From the alphabet and sound tubs to the decodable readers, my goal is the ensure that all of my students receive a strong reading foundation. In the age of technology, I want to give my students other fun avenues to learn sounds, manipulate sounds, and read connected text independently. Competent readers become confident readers. These are necessary first steps to becoming active lovers of reading.
