My students need several force and motion kits to explore and discover. We also need books to help make connections to what we are exploring.

My Students
My kindergarten students are always on the go, so what would make a better unit for our next case study than, "On the Move!" We are getting ready to explore how things move and what makes them go using inclined planes and different objects and coverings to add friction to the plane.
My students come from a high poverty neighborhood where school can be a safe haven.
My class is made up of many ethnic backgrounds and cultures. They all come to school eager to learn and play. We learn best when we can learn through play and exploration. Our school is full of wonderful teachers who come to school every day to fill our students' minds with the knowledge and confidence they will need to become successful in the future! Our kindergarten and first grade team will be exploring force and motion for our spring case study. We cannot wait to explore all of this with our kids!
My Project
My students will be able to use the force and motion kits to explore how, why, and what makes things move. I asked for 2 of each because there will be 6 classes that these kits and books will be rotating to during our weeks long case study. They will learn about inclined planes and how steep or flat the plane is will affect how fast and how far and object will roll. Also, the various objects we can roll down the plane will help them to discover how well round objects roll and how different shaped objects are harder to move down the plane.
We will use the books that have been requested to do "close reads" to develop our background knowledge about this topic. I am so excited to watch them learn and discover new knowledge about things "On the Move!"
To have these kits and materials on hand in our classroom will make our learning experience with this "On the Move" case study more meaningful.
Our culminating project at the end of this study will be creating our own On the Move kit to share with other future children in our classroom and community.
