When students enter my class, it is often their very first school experience. They are boys and girls from very diverse backgrounds, with varying skills and abilities. Our classroom community welcomes all who enter to grow with us as we sing, dance, paint, share, eat, and learn.
Throughout the year we have many celebrations to recognize holidays, birthdays, and the wonderful accomplishments of our students.
My goal, as a teacher, is to expose my students to new and exciting materials and programs, in order to spark interest and creativity!
My Project
My students are 21st-century learners and technology natives. As such, they are much more used to learning through apps and interactive play than they are using pencils and paper.
With a Microsoft Go, keyboard case, and stylus in our pre-k classroom, my students will have so many opportunities to learn, grow, and explore in a way that is comfortable and familiar to them.
For example, our pre-k follows the Building Blocks curriculum. This is a largely online way of reinforcing basic concepts, such as one-to-one correspondence, matching, and sorting. This curriculum can be accessed either online or through an app. In addition, the students will be able to use many other apps throughout the school year, as well as have the ability to write with the stylus directly on the Go, to learn handwriting, and practice fine motor skills.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
