On Point with a Pencil Sharpener

My students need a high volume electric pencil sharpener.

This project is fully funded

I teach ESOL in an urban, low-income district at the middle school level. I provide all of the materials for my students including binders and pencils. Many of the students I now have in class were formally un-schooled as they came to the United States as refugees. A group of students I currently have in class have only been in a school environment for about 2 years. Pencil skills, how to hold and sharpen pencils, were recently learned skills for some.

Needless to say... my students struggle with the mounted old fashioned pencil sharpener we have now. They have a difficult time pressing hard enough and it gets their (and my) hands dirty, as well as the tables and clothing. We used to have an electric pencil sharpener, but its motor died after about 6 months due to frequent sharpening. Often before a class, I will sharpen all the pencils for the students because I don't want to wait 20 minutes for the students to manage it; then I often get blisters from sharpening! Please help us get an incredible pencil sharpener so that we can focus on learning.

This one awesome pencil sharpener should last a LONG time; it's warrantied for two years! With it, my students will be able to focus on reading and writing, and getting on task 'write' away!
