Help me give my students a healthy way to manage their ever-growing stress. By introducing yoga to our students, we hope to give them a practice that will help them with stress, focus, self-esteem, and discipline.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our city is a very diverse, urban community, with a broad range of income levels, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Our middle school student body represents that diversity very well. There are over 20 languages spoken by our students, a reflection of the various parts of the world from which our families hail.
Our students are hard-working, and ambitious, and sometimes need just a light hand to help them along, or provide that "something extra" to help them reach their goals and potential.
This project will provide them with one of those "somethings", that could be the one that makes the real difference in their school experience. And, with our teens coping with more and more stresses than ever, providing a fun, beneficial, lifetime skill to do so is not only helpful, but almost a must.
My Project
Yoga is a practice that can help anyone, in building stronger and/or healthier body image, self-confidence, focus, stress release, and over-all mental and physical well-being. These are building blocks for success in life, relationships, education, and more.
Students face more stresses today than ever and need our help, to find healthy ways to cope and succeed.
And, for many students, managing their stress in positive and effective ways is one of the biggest challenges to their success. Introducing yoga, a skill that can provide a lifetime of benefits seems like a perfect way to support our students, and give them a leg up on forming and maintaining healthy lives, through middle school and beyond.
