This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember what it was like having a hard time spelling big words and building your vocabulary? My students want to become spelling experts. They want to expand their vocabulary and learn new words in a fun way.
My students come from a very diverse community with many different cultural backgrounds and languages.
Most of the students in my school speak two languages and English is usually their second. Many of the fourth graders in my school struggle with spelling new words.They have a difficult time with new vocabulary words. Even though they struggle with language they still want to become experts at spelling. My students want to learn new and challenging words. My fourth graders are very hard working and dedicated students. I know they can achieve great things.
My Project
If my students receive the Scrabble Me and Boggle word games their language skills will improve in a fun way. Their test scores will improve. They will gain better social skills as well by playing with other students. This year my school will be having Clubs for the upper grades 4 and 5. I would like to do a vocabulary Word game Club. The students will be using the Scrabble Me and Boggle games when they come to my club once a week. Since the students are taking a very important New York State Reading and Writing test I thought this club would be very beneficial for the students. This Word game Club will help to build their vocabulary and spelling skills in an entertaining way. Together in teams my students will be able to create and spell new words through the use of Scrabble Me and Boggle. This in turn will help them build vocabulary knowledge to help them with their English Language Arts State test.
Please help me make this Word Game Club a reality for my students.
