Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My sixth grade is comprised of 12 students in a self-contained class with unique learning disabilities. Although my students' needs vary academically, socially, and emotionally, they are all equally deserving of the same opportunities as their peers in higher-income areas.
My students are intuitively creative, yet require tools to harness that creativity.
My students come from an environment that promotes sub-standard achievement and single-parent households that have done little to motivate them. My goal is to use technology as a conduit to unchain their creativity to new platforms. These creative platforms will broaden their perspective on how to use their abilities presently and in the future, as well.
My Project
Throughout the day, our project-based learning takes on a whole new meaning with interdisciplinary centers. Technology should be embedded and integrated into the fabric of as many daily classroom activities as possible.
This technology will enhance my students' learning, and will be used as an effective approach for bridging the gap between their learning and their disability.
A Google Chromebook would benefit my students by providing access to innovative mediums that are on "the cloud" such as Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Classroom. While in centers, this laptop will aide them in the process of becoming lifelong learners.
With this resource, my students will be able to create artistic presentations, incorporating their knowledge of various literary elements and interdisciplinary connections. My students will begin to see themselves as responsible participants in the demonstration of their learning. Students who are confident with technology and resources can ultimately face many more challenges in life.
