Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my class are nothing short of amazing. Most of my students come from families that were struggling to make ends meet before the Global Pandemic hit, and now they are barely keeping their heads above water.

Yet these students meet and exceed my expectations time and time again.

I would never know they have siblings in their laps because their parents need childcare. They haven't had enough to eat, or don't have basic supplies, they are up too late or have to get up very early. They don't want any sympathy or make excuses, they just get to work.

My Project

My students have been so amazing during distance learning: they are almost always on time, they are engaged, they make me laugh... I'm so impressed. The least I can give them is prizes to motivate them, art supplies to do our favorite subject, and styluses to make their work easier.

These kids get so excited for Fridays when we do our incentive "store," and also spend the end of our day doing an art project.

I understand how important it is to have things to look forward to, and I love giving my kids these little treats to keep their spirits up during this tough situation.
