This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 15 special education Pre-K students. These are some of the greatest and most courageous students. They attend school in one of the highest poverty districts in the state. Yet, with multiple disabilities and adversities, that does not dissuade them in any way in learning.

They know their teachers care, but we lack the full resources to teach them to their fullest extent.

My students are just beginning life. They deserve a break too. Will you please help them? Thanks! We all really appreciate your support.

My Project

One area my students struggle with is letter identification. Since they also have sensory needs, I am requesting alphabet picture magnets and a write the litter activity center accompanied by the tabletop light and light table tracing alphabet tiles. These letter activities will enhance their letter identification substantially.

In using these letter activities, my students will not only be able to touch and manipulate the letters (sensory), they will also be able to start recognizing the letters, sounds, words, and begin to write them as well.

In a day and age where typing has become common-place, it is absolutely crucial that students know how to write. They cannot just rely on a computer. As such, it starts at this age (pre-k). They must get exposure to learning the letters and how to form them correctly.
