Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Please consider helping Bilingual students from a Title I school, where technology along with reading are learning opportunities not available at home. Tablets (with accessories), magazine & e-book subscriptions, & cameras are tools that will help my students expand their knowledge and vocabulary.

We have a population of 84% with free and reduced lunch in our school which makes us a Title I school.

Spanish is the language spoken at home and our students often translate and help their parents to understand the things they learn in school every day. Their parents have instilled them with a desire to want to learn and share experiences, life, and hardships with their family within the classroom. Even though my bilingual students have many disadvantages in their lives, they work hard every day at acquiring new and strengthening their vocabulary in the English language. My students have such a great appetite to learn and expand their knowledge in grammar, reading, science, and math. My Title 1 school could use assistance in improving the implementation of technology in the classroom to help students expand their knowledge.

My Project

My students are eager to expand their vocabulary and to learn how to apply technology in everyday situations from completing homework, improving reading & math skills while using technology . Using cameras (& memory cards) in this manner will greatly promote the integration of technology into all the major core subjects in vocabulary development. The magazine subscriptions will provide my students with non-fiction reading on their level and high interest topics. The e-book subscription will aid at differentiating their learning in order to hit all reading levels & skills and allow students to hear the English language in order to expand their vocabulary, fluency, & comprehension. The tablets will allow my students to use educational apps to practice many different reading skills and improve the automaticity of math facts. All of these items will help students have fun while learning critical skills.

Donating to this project will provide a technological aspect of learning to our classroom full of eager minds in a Title 1 school.

Bilingual students will have different ways to expand their vocabulary with new technology and different reading material that would become available to them. This project will motivate students to learn to their full potential.
