My students are independent, resilient, and HILARIOUS!

They have a growth mindset and are eager, curious learners. They are quick to cheer eachother on and have formed friendships within our classroom that are sure to last a lifetime!

My Project

Each Kindergarten student will receive Dr. Seuss' powerful message about the importance of seizing new opportunities, keeping an open-mind, and trying new things... paired with personalized inspirational messages from each of their teachers! By providing each child with a copy of "Oh the Places You'll Go" (in their first language) at the culmination of Kindergarten, we will instill the tradition to have each of their future teachers inscribe their book with beautiful and special messages filled with hopes for a successful future. By graduation, this will be a priceless keepsake they will hold dear for the rest of their lives! This will be a tangible way to improve each child's sense of self and outlook on the world. This tradition touches upon each of the 5 core competencies of Social-Emotional Learning (Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Responsible Decision-Making, Social Awareness, and Relationship Skills.)

On the last day of Kindergarten, we will use our books for an important SEL lesson.

Our lesson will focus on making positive choices and each child believing that their potential is limitless! The text (along with the teachers personal message written inside to the student) will remind them that they are special and loved. This will be our final, and most important lesson of the year as it will build self-confidence! The big idea of the lesson will be “You already have everything you need in order to succeed. You’re in control of your destiny.”
