This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a fourth and fifth grade teacher who is seeking support to help my students. Like mentioned before I am currently teaching two grade levels at the same time. All my students come to class ready to learn something new and ready to enhance previous skills or lessons. Our school is a free public school, and the majority of our students come from low socioeconomic status. In addition, we are a Title I School which means that we provide free meal plans to support our families' needs.
My classroom is build of wonderful African-American and Latino students who come to school with a beautiful smile even with the challenges they are facing.
What I like the most about my students is their perseverance and kindness. They each work together to help each other. My fourth and fifth graders are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have such a great group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each day! Lastly, I would like to provide a more resourceful laptop to allow my students equal access to a newer tool that will help build their STEAM Knowledge and skills.
My Project
My students come from low socio-economic families. Our public school provides students with outdated Chromebooks to encourage students to learn 21st century skills. The Chromebooks that students use currently using are old and are not up to date with the latest applications. For example, when I was trying to teach them how to navigate basic skills like excel, google slides, or other platforms, their device was not up to date. I would like to teach students in a small group setting how to use a more newer and accessible device like the Mac Book. If the goal is to provide access and equity, I believe all students should be allowed to navigate tools that are most commonly used. During small group, I will have students learn how to create their own coding games, slides presentation, how to edit images, how to use this great new Laptop to encourage build skills for their future.
Now more than ever, with distance learning and a future in technology, with your generous donations, my students will be thrilled to be have accessibility to a better device to help build their future!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
