Help me give my students sketch kits for their Dash and Dot robots so they can see what they are coding.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Herman's classroom raised $430
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students range in age from five to thirteen and attend an urban K-8 elementary school. Each student in our school comes to our lab once a week for their lessons on digital media.
They come from a variety of backgrounds with many different levels of exposure to computers.
Our students are curious to learn more about how to create digital media to share with others. We want them to learn how to create and not just to consume digital media. Coding is a big part of learning how to create in the digital world. Students need to understand how their favorite apps and programs are created. We work on learning "how to put things on the internet and take things off the internet."
My Project
Students love to see results! Students really enjoy using the Dash and Dot robots to explore coding with their hands. The sketch kits that attach to the Dash robots will allow students to see what they are programming into the robots in a real and concrete way. The students are able to control the robot and have Dash put the marker up and down and control the length of the line the robot is drawing. This will help students take their understanding of coding to the next level. Dash and Dot have been a hit with students off all ages. Students will be so excited to add sketching to their coding skills.
