Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in our classroom is engergetic. My students are getting ready to embark on a new journey in their lives. Their seniors and their heading to middle school. I am so proud of them. All have grown into talented and amazing scholars.
My scholars are working hard to improve their independence when it comes to completing homework and assigned projects.
My students face barriers to achieving their goals. They are fifth grade special education students who read and write three grades below grade level. Students struggle from a range of disabilities ranging from dyslexia, autism, and learning processing disorder. Students have trouble with comprehension, written language and decoding text. However, students have become more successful at reaching their goals by being provided with additional support such as scaffolded option to type using the computers to write. My scholars tend to use the computers more, along with their graphic organizers. Our Title 1 school lacks basic resources and supplies which makes it hard for them to continuously practice these skills.
My Project
I am requesting copy paper to continue to foster my students' creative writing. I love to encourage children to read on their own and then share their new found knowledge through writing. I am also requesting cleaning supplies such as disinfected wipes and aerial sprays, as my scholars can be quite messy when physically involved in their learning. Projects are not only informative but are encouraged to be as creative as possible. Cleaning after their work is a requirement for all, as this promotes cooperation, continuous creativity, and respect for the learning environment that we share.
Donations made to this project will enhance my students' learning all year long.
The materials will allow my students to learn in their individual ways, be successful and have fun learning. We would so greatly appreciate all donations made to our project!
