This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a specialized public high school in New York City renowned for excelling at math and the sciences. They are also passionate about learning French and developing their ability to communicate with people from around the world, thus becoming well-rounded individuals and future leaders.

Infinitely curious and motivated, my students come to class each day eager to learn and put their newfound knowledge to use.

The more they read and hear French, the more their vocabulary and communication skills improve, transforming them into truly proficient French speakers.

My Project

It is estimated that approximately 70% of a person's vocabulary comes from reading. This applies to one's native language, but also to the second and third languages that we might learn.

I wish to build a classroom library filled with books written in French, so that my students can get lost in a good book while building their vocabulary.

I started this project modestly a few years ago and now hope to greatly expand it and give my students a wide variety of reading material. The more literature options I provide my students with, the better the chances that they will find books that are just the right fit for them.
